Project Description

Project Brief

Design a poster reminiscent of the “Golden Age of Travel”, circa early-to-mid 1900s. Use simple, geometric style, vintage fonts, blending modes, paper textures and authentic-looking ink to illustrate a recognizable location, landmark, or cultural reference.

Student Approach

“I chose the bridge in Mattawa that crosses the Ottawa River because this bridge has a lot of meaning to me as it was one of my Dad’s favorites, and he worked on it a lot with the OVR. He passed away 6 years ago. I see this image and I picture my parents sitting in these chairs holding hands and enjoying the view.

One of the main obstacles I faced with this design was finding a simple way to depict the bushy trees in the background.”
